On March 21, Music In Africa celebrates premiere in Germany – panel discussion and concert

On March 21, 2015, the Goethe-Institut and Siemens Stiftung will be presenting the “Music In Africa” online platform, a joint initiative between the two organizations, for the very first time in Germany. The venue is the Muffathalle in Munich. This platform gives people around the world an opportunity to discover and appreciate the music being produced on the African continent. It aims to become the leading Internet platform for information connected with music from Africa, including contact addresses, useful facts, current news and educational opportunities.
The presentation has been scheduled to accompany a concert by Senegalese hip-hop artists from Dakar, who have come to Munich as part of the “Dox Dajé” exchange program. Before this concert begins, the West African musicians will be taking part in a panel discussion about the role of hip-hop in Senegal’s development, and the increasing importance of interaction across continents. The discussion will be chaired by the music journalist Jonathan Fischer.
