The project Design Thinking in STEM continues in Mexico and Peru
Creativity and innovation in the classroom: Design Thinking in STEM – live online discussion in Spanish ahead of Mexican and Peruvian teacher workshops in 2021
Siemens Stiftung and the Danish nonprofit The Index Project are continuing their collaborative educational project “Design Thinking in STEM” in 2021 with new activities in Mexico and Peru. The workshops have been made possible through contributions from Cents4Sense, an initiative that sees dividends from one stock held by Siemens AG employees donated to the foundation’s projects. This amount was doubled through a matching donation from Siemens AG.
After the project Design Thinking in STEM launched two years ago in South Africa, workshops held in Chile in 2019/20 were also met with enthusiasm from Latin American educators who implemented the methods in STEM lessons.
The kick-off event for Mexico and Peru will be held in Spanish and is open for anyone to participate. Mariano Alesandro, Head of Future Thinking & Special Projects at The Index Project, and Christine Niewöhner, project manager at Siemens Stiftung, will introduce creativity and innovation in STEM lessons in a live stream carried by the Siemens Stiftung YouTube channel on 4 February 2021. The two experts will focus primarily on urgent issues in education: Why is creativity a key competency for the 21st century? What is the connection between innovative ability and sustainability? How can creative, innovative, and solution-based thinking and working be encouraged in classroom lessons?
